I do have slightly olive skin, which means that I tend to avoid some really warm colors like Lady Danger, which is otherwise one of the best MAC red lipsticks, and tend to go towards colors like Captive or Viva Glam 1. Just so you can situate my skin tone a bit better, I am half-French and half- Moroccan, and I am an NW15- NW20. Little by little, I want to share with you my knowledge of the MAC Cosmetics products as such, I will tell you about the best MAC lipsticks for fair skin, dark skin, Indian and olive skin later on. I did tell you in my first guide of this series that I worked for MAC for a little over a year, both in the shop on the Champs-Elysees in Paris, and the MAC store in Covent Garden, very near some other famous makeup stores in London and places where you can get amazing scented candles (like the big TK Maxx on Long Acre). I’ve chosen a fair few amazing MAC lipstick shades for fair Asian skin (like Chinese or Japanese skin which can be combined with neutral lip liners like the famous Cork lip liner) and a few great colors that have proven to be some of the best MAC lipsticks if you have Indian skin, Cambodian, Thai, Laotian skin, or a slightly olive skin tone. Some time ago, I told you about the best MAC Satin lipstick shades for every skin tone, and I thought it would be helpful to continue this series of guides with the best MAC lipstick for Asian skin. ![]() When you purchase from my links, I may earn a small commission (at no extra cost to you) which helps me provide even more awesome content for you :) You can always layer it up for a more dramatic effect. There may be affiliate links throughout the content you're about to read. With a firm grip on lipstick, it glides easily across my lips without bleeding, smudging or feathering but I always make sure to apply a lip liner for a more defined look. It can be applied using a lip brush or directly from the bullet. It is applied easily but you have to be careful while applying this shade as any smudge or mistake really shows up and makes you look awful. The formula of the lipstick is soft, smooth and creamy. Let's say we want to change the type of column A to Integer. In the second column called A we have integer data currently saved as Text type. One is a column called id with type bigserial. Suppose we have a table PRU with two columns. In fact, VARCHAR and TEXT fields are stored in the same way in Postgres.Due to performance and locking reasons, changing a datatype column using ALTER COLUMN can be a long-running operation. The size specification in VARCHAR is only used to check the size of the values which are inserted, it does not affect the disk layout. Stored in background tables so that they do not interfere with rapid Physical requirement on disk might be less. Long strings are compressed by the system automatically, so the Longer strings have 4 bytes of overhead instead of 1. Plus the actual string, which includes the space padding in the case The storage requirement for a short string (up to 126 bytes) is 1 byte Postgres, unlike some other databases, is smart enough to only use just enough space to fit the string (even using compression for longer strings), so even if your column is declared as VARCHAR(255) - if you store 40-character strings in the column, the space usage will be 40 bytes + 1 byte of overhead. THERE'S NO NEED TO RESIZE THE COLUMN IN YOUR CASE! Constraints you can change around without this table lock/rewrite problem, and they can do more integrity checking than just the weak length check. If you don't care about multi-database compatibility, consider storing your data as TEXT and add a constraint to limits its length. VARCHAR is a terrible type that exists in PostgreSQL only to comply with its associated terrible part of the SQL standard. You'll need to figure out how to truncate those manually-so you're back some locks just on oversize ones-because if someone tries to update anything on that row it's going to reject it as too big now, at the point it goes to store the new version of the row. You would be wise to do a scan over the whole table looking for rows where the length of the field is >40 characters after making the change. If you hack a lower limit in there, that will not reduce the size of existing values at all. The length check is done when values are stored into the rows. All sorts of weird cases to be aware of here. Make sure you read the Character Types section of the docs before changing this. The only way to do this officially is with ALTER TABLE, and as you've noted that change will lock and rewrite the entire table while it's running. You have to hack the database catalog data. There's a description of how to do this at Resize a column in a PostgreSQL table without changing data. ![]() ![]() ![]() This is a seasonal route that starts in June and ends in November. It could be beautiful, it could be dreamy, or it could be a little bit menacing and like there’s a storm brewing underneath, and we do that with the sound,” Madsen said. But if you pay attention, the sound will kind of give hints into the emotional state of a character. “ does these transitions between the scenes and it’s shots of waves or it’s shots of rock, scenic shots. It was important to withhold the mystery of what the sounds really are until the last possible moment and until Grobet’s quite voyeuristic shot of Tanya peering around a mirror, so both her eyes and the glass catch the image of Jack and Quentin having sex.īut Madsen was helped by the way sound works on “The White Lotus” overall. “When Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge) is laying in bed and she hears this sound and it almost sounds like someone could be having a nightmare or someone’s in pain or something,” Madsen said. The slow build was also important for Madsen and the sound team. All of a sudden we’re left in the credits with some kind of mysterious vibe of what might happen.” The goal with these moments for Tapia de Veer and co-composer Kim Neundorf was to create cues that felt very dark but also sensual, unfolding slowly but getting ever more operatic. “It’s always towards the end of an episode that things become a little bit more serious. “We went for something a little more dramatic, maybe, because it’s anticipating how things might be going towards the end of the show,” composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer told IndieWire. Those shots are for our perspective, and for us to start freaking out.Ī sense of the weird and the wrong guides the development of the score, too. I like to make the camera feel as if we were a character as well.” Grobet emphasizes that first-person perspective very explicitly here, as normal tracking shots of Tanya walking through the corridors are intercut with more dolly zooms, in parts of the palace that Tanya may or may not pass by. ![]() So accentuates that feeling of surveillance and intrusion into their lives. “It’s a very voyeuristic thing to do because you are actually picking into their lives and you’re trying to see even farther than you’re allowed to see. So it almost asks you to go that way, you know?” Grobet said. “It’s written into the pages – not the style, but the feeling of. But once she’s on the move, Grobet employs a deeply unsettling dolly zoom of the opulent interior. Once you have that location, then everything else follows from that: the way you light it, the way you move the camera, the way you stage the scene to create moments of tension.” Grobet creates that immediate sense of something off and wrong in the dark with the shots of the villa architecture, and the show even gets a little cheeky by putting an apple on Tanya’s nightstand she briefly considers when a sound wakes her up in the middle of the night. “The location itself gives you the emotion of the scene. We changed it because the one palazzo was better for the more intriguing scenes and the other was more like opulent place you’d want to stay in,” Grobet said. “The one that we used for Palermo was in Noto and the one that we used for Noto was in Palermo. “The two palazzos were actually on the opposite sides of Sicily,” cinematographer Xavier Grobet told IndieWire. These qualities of the villa actually contributed to where the show shot the sequence. Like the chattering monkeys of Season 1, “White Lotus” Season 2 finds whatever ways it can through its locations to convey the sense that there are primal spirits watching the follies of man. The interplay here gives all of the stone faces a sense of animalistic power. ![]() Translucent eye glasses8/8/2023 ![]() ![]() Wearing even the best clear frame glasses can sometimes come with a bit of a stigma, especially if you’re a kid.
